Part II Photographic Battle Report
Sunday, September 5th 2004 (Go to
Part I)
After a two week respite, Casey and Joe returned to my house to
finish the Battle of Lutzen. Once again, throwing caution to the wind, the
three of us started at 7:00am (Yikes!). After a few minutes of review and
discussion of what was going on two weeks ago, we started the game. It was
the Allied 16:00 turn.

Epilogue
After the 18:30 turn, Joe and Casey offered their swords and we called the
game. With only two turns left, they determined it would be impossible for the
Guard and XI Corps to force the river crossing and take Klien Gorschen or Gross
Gorschen. Rahna was also going to be very hard to take. It was well protected
by Prussian Guard/Russian Grenadiers, artillery and several units of Cavalry.
On top of that, the French forces closest to it were either disordered or out of
position for a quick advance. With
the Allied turn coming up, the French were about to be placed on the defensive
for the next two turns and would be unable to launch an effective assault on
Rahna.
Normally, we would have
finished the game out (we especially wanted to do this now to see how the Guard
attack would come off), but unfortunately Casey had been sick for the last hour
or so and needed to leave (I'm sure it had nothing to do with the large amount
of crap we had been eating since 7am that morning!).
As always with these guys,
I had a great time and enjoyed the game immensely. Hats off to Joe and Casey
for another great game! Be sure to check out the other Lutzen battle reports
and additional information on the
Lutzen Main Page.
Here a few random post game pictures I took as we were packing up and after
the guys left.
