Text Box: Fiction and Battle Reports

Below are a collection of short stories and battle reports revolving around some of the games we have played.  As I collect them from the guys in the group, I will continue to post them here.  I have broken this page down into the major game systems with various stories and battle reports for each group.

Epic: Armageddon
Battle of Hive City Acworth-Photographic Battle Report
Rebellion-Photographic Battle Report

Warhammer 40K
Eye of Terror Mega Game
Joe Underwood wrote a few short stories before the game to give some fluff and character to the upcoming battles.  If you would like to see a few pictures of the game, click here.
Chapters One through Seven

This last chapter was a follow up down by another member of our group, John Ross.  It is a very funny interview with a Dark Eldar Dracon
Chapter Eight

Narrative 40k Campaign
This next group of stories/Battle Reports came from a short narrative 40k campaign one of our members ran.  It consisted of a primary assault on a Spaceport held by Chaos forces as well as several side missions.  I am still trying to collect all the stories, but this is what I have now.

The Battle of Reddington 5948 (BFG and 40K)
To break in his new Town home, Alec Peters hosted a 2 day multi-game Mega-Battle On December 27th and 28th of 2003.  The battle was a refight of the famous Warhammer 40k "The Battle of Reddington 5948" (Alec's new address).

BFG: On the first day we played a huge BFG game between Chaos and Imperial forces.  Both fleets had to escort several Heavy Troop Transports to the planet of Reddington 5948.    To make things really interesting, both fleets had to keep 1/3 of their points off board in the form of 3 reserve fleets.  These reserve fleets would be entering the table in a totally random location.  Each transport ship that made it to the planet gave that player's side a predetermined amount of extra points for the 40k game on the following day.  In addition to this, whichever side won the battle (via Victory Points), received an extra troop allotment for the 40k battle (on top of any transport ships).

After a full day of vicious fighting, the Chaos forces were able to land several troop transports on the planet to support their attack on the capital city.  This was achieved at the cost of the virtual destruction of the Chaos fleet.  So while the Imperial players were not able to land their transport ships, they did get extra points for winning the space battle.  In the end, it turned out that both sides would be playing with equal point armies the next day.

40K:  The second day witnessed the fight for the capital city of Reddington 5948, Hive Peteropolis.  The objective for this game (which was played using Codex: Cityfight rules) was to capture 3 of the 5 objective buildings on the table.  This was a great game with a narrow Imperial victory. It literally came down to the very last round of combat where the Space Marines were finally able to route a unit stubborn Chaos Brethren.

40k Rouge Trader Tournament Fluff
For RT Tournaments, players are asked to submit some background information about the army they are playing.  I have only played in two 40K Rouge Trader Tournaments so far.  The first with my Dark Eldar and the next with my Necron army.  Below are the short background stories for the armies.

Warhammer Fantasy Battles
First Battle of Hembres Bridge Battle report by Joe Underwood from our current WHFB Campaign
Second Battle of Hembres Bridge -A quick battle report by Joe
Battle for the Mine- Another battle report by Joe. They didn't have a camera so he just re-created the game using MS Excel...way too much time on his hands!

An old battle report from a few years ago-Joe's Empire Army

World War II
The Battle of the Belch- This was a 15mm WWII game Joe Underwood and I played a few years ago.  The game was played using the Command Decision III rule set.  All in all a good game.  As always, Joe's unique humor shines through.
